|Since about 1994, Cate has provided translations on various topics for the European Coatings Journal on a monthly basis – examples below.
Clients include various patent attorneys’ firms, Patent Offices in different countries and specialist translation companies. Confidentiality prevents their being named here.
Cate has devised training programmes in patent translation for technical translators. She was one of the creators of ITI’s online course in business skills for freelances, the landmark Professional Support Group, and managed it until 2012. She frequently gives presentations at translator conferences: complete list available on request.
She is also a member of The Peer Group, a high-level group of freelance translators working for the European institutions, and was a director until 2013. Since its foundation in October 2000, The Peer Group has translated around 13 million words for the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union and various Luxembourg government bodies and international agencies. |Cate joined the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in 1989, becoming a Qualified Member in 1990. In 2006 she was awarded Fellowship of ITI in recognition of her services to the profession, an honour of which she is extremely proud.|
